Murray is the managing director of Management Accountants and has 40 years of experience in chartered accounting. He started out working at the big firms before venturing into private practice in 1989. His desire has always been to provide a personal, cost effective and high quality service to his clients. He has a passion for teaching and helping clients understand the technicalities of accounting, structures and tax.
Murray is a Chartered Accountant and member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand since 1981.
Murray’s calling is to help you get your accounting structures, banking & tax in order. This means you can focus on the aspects of business you enjoy and are good at. He takes pride in providing a service tailored to each client and developing solid business relationships.
He supports the community by working with charities, Christian groups and not-for-profits.
In his personal time, Murray enjoys involvement with his local church, playing golf, and watching his children’s sport. Still! Rain or shine! Even though they are adults now!!
Murray is married to Delwyn, and treasures time with their family - Suzanne, Michael, Catherine and her husband Reuben and is Granpop to Ahlea.
Byron graduated with a BCom from Auckland University in 2009 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2014. He has been working in public practice for over 8 years since joining Murray Bell in 2007.
He is a senior accountant at Management Accountants and enjoys looking after a number of clients in a variety of different industries. His primary role is to prepare Financial Statements, Tax Returns and Periodic Reports. Byron is personable and his straightforward manner promotes open communication, all of which allows him to build good rapport with his clients.
Byron has developed a particular interest in supporting not-for-profit organisations by providing accounting services and this is in part how Management Accountants aims to ‘give back’ to their local community. He is a huge fan of Xero, is a Xero Certified Advisor and enjoys being more involved with clients on a regular basis through Xero.
Byron has been married to Avril for 4 years and has been privileged enough to travel and see a small part of the world with his wife. Together they are heavily involved in the music for their church, Calvary Chapel Auckland, and if you would like to hear them sing, you’ll have to visit on a Sunday morning. Byron’s other interests include surfing, snowboarding, cricket, tennis and motor sport.
Helen has recently joined us a full time accountant working on our firm’s clients.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration majoring in Accountancy from the Philippine School of Business Administration. She took up some requirements from Massey University as she is keen to become a fully qualified New Zealand Chartered Accountant.
Helen worked as an accountant for 5 years in the Philippines, and now has 9 years of public practice experience in New Zealand Chartered Accountancy firms.
Other than English and Filipino languages, she also speaks and understands a bit of Spanish. She loves travel and spending time with family and friends. Her interests include dancing and arts especially cross stitching.
Julie is the welcoming face that everyone sees at Management Accountants, where she has worked since September 2015.
Julie enjoys the client contact over the phone and in person. You can often hear her having a laughing conversation with our clients. She thrives on the variety of the work at Management Accountants and helps anyone in the office that needs it.
She is responsible for all the general office administrative duties, and is a keen learner of any new skills, which is exciting!
Prior to Julie immigrating to New Zealand (from South Africa in 2005) she owned a home based Playgroup for 12 years enriching the lives of the under 5’s. After arriving in New Zealand Julie worked in a number of customer service roles, firstly in the health and wellness industry and then for an apparel/footwear company.
Julie is married to Rob for a wonderful 25 years and has 2 adult sons. She is a very sociable and friendly person, who enjoys in her spare time going for long walks with the family, and enjoys running and gym. She also loves going on holiday and is always planning the next trip!
Delwyn is a member of our administrative team. She works part time enjoying a 3-day working week. She works behind the scenes particularly supporting our clients who are Directors and Trustees to maintain clear and compliant company and trust permanent records – working in a more words & less numbers area.
Our Trust Administrative area is currently being reviewed to confirm responsibilities as we are introducing a formal Trust Administration maintenance service for clients who would appreciate this support.
Delwyn is also blessed to be able to spend the two work free days caring for her granddaughter who is now two years old.
Claire graduated from the University of Auckland with a BCom(Hons)/LLB majoring in accounting and finance. After graduating she spent a few years working in the tax division of Deloitte.
Claire then moved to Guardian Trust where she worked for over 13 years, initially as part of the tax team and more recently having responsibility for the charities register compliance work for more than 400 charitable trusts.
Claire joined Management Accountants in July 2016 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2018. She is currently involved with the statutory administration of client companies as well as the preparation of accounting work for clients.
In her spare time Claire enjoys travelling and a variety of church based activities, including being involved in running summer beach missions for many years..
Jordan joined us as a Graduate Accountant in 2017 after completing his Bachelor of Accountancy at Massey University.
He has joined the chartered accountancy program as a provisional member, and is working at becoming a fully qualified Chartered Accountant. Jordan enjoys the face to face side of accounting, and takes interest in the continuity and success of the great variety of business activities from clients of Management Accountants. His main role is Tax Administrator for Management Accountants.
Jordan is passionate about all football related sports, and is active in some varieties at a national level, namely futsal. He also has a heart for the next generation of players, and volunteers as a tactics and skills coach for a local school.
Jordan also enjoys adventure sports in the nature of snowboarding, surfing, and mountain biking. His plan is to extend his experiences to classic kiwi bungy jumping later this year.
After several years of working full time while studying part-time, Annette Graduated from AUT with a Bachelor of Business Studies majoring in Accounting. In 2017, after having worked in an accounting firm as well as a number of commercial accounting roles she, joined Management Accountants.
Annette is now working towards becoming a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA). Always looking for opportunities to deliver extra value to clients, her goal is for her accounting career to involve more than number crunching and to become more strategic in helping guide clients to achieve their business goals and at the same time continue to focus on building complementary skills, such as communication and relationship building, to be able to deliver the value added services our clients are looking for.
Annette is married to André. They have recently been blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, who is the light of their lives. In her spare time, Annette loves spending time with family and friends. With all the years of study, she hasn’t been able to pursue her many hobbies or activities but with that behind her, she and André intend to start walking and discovering the many wonderful walks New Zealand has to offer.
